I’m embarking on a journey to learn PHP. My ultimate goal is to be able to write some plugins for WordPress.

I have some experience with JavaScript and React. I attended a JavaScript focused bootcamp in 2022. After the bootcamp, I landed an entry level position as a front end developer. That was unfortunately short lived for budget reasons, but it was great to get some experience with production and contributing to an existing project.

PHP seems to have a lot of similarities to JavaScript, but there is definitely some different syntax to learn.

My plan is to fill up this site with some general content. I would like to experiment with adding some established plugins; hopefully open source plugins so I can see what they are doing under the hood. Then I plan to try my hand at making a simple plugin of my own using PHP.
